Nestled at the foot of Connors Range, the charming community of Carmila is a blend of beachfront bliss with country character.

 

The main community hub is near the Bruce Highway and contains a petrol station, emergency services, church, caravan park, motel and traditional Queensland pub. With a modern stadium, sports fields and tennis courts, Carmila is a sporting hub for the Isaac Coast.

 

Meander past roadside mango trees, rustic cottages and farms selling fresh produce before emerging into fringing coastal bush.

 

Located at the northern end of the beach is a boat ramp into Carmila Creek. Sunset fishing is particularly good here for barramundi, mangrove jack, trevally and flathead, while tasty mud crabs can be found along the coast.

 

Carmila Beach is fringed by natural sub-tropical rainforest, home to an array of bird life. Bush Turkeys are common and most active at dawn and dusk. This long stretch of sand is famous for beachfront camping, with basic amenities provided. A playground with barbecues and picnic tables is located at the northern end, near the boat ramp, with easy access to the beach.

 

Hike on foot or take a 4WD excursion up to Flaggy Rock Bluff for 360 degree views of the Coral Sea and rural horizons. A private golf course with camping facilities can be found another few kilometres south, from Flaggy Rock, along the Bruce Highway.
