Built in 1933 as a guest house for people requiring clear mountain air, the Eungella Chalet has been a landmark in the local area for decades. Today the Eungella Chalet still operates, providing clear mountain air, with some advancements in the way of creature comforts. Located adjacent to the head of the Mackay Highlands Great Walk, it is a unique gateway to Eungella National Park, with the crystal clear mountain streams and amazing diversity of flora and fauna.

The Eungella Chalet's newly renovated decor has a truly Australian feel to it with the restaurant featuring a new stainless steel and timber bar, beautiful timber furniture and timber floors. Our outdoor eating area is now an all weather viewing deck so you can enjoy the magnificent views of the Pioneer Valley or sit back and watch the mystical clouds roll past.

Description

The outdoor eating area is enclosed so you can take in the beautiful view of the Pioneer Valley below. You can enjoy the fireplace for the cold evenings and the cool mountain breezes in the summer months.

They have one and two bedroom fully self contained air conditioned cabins with fireplace, television, front verandah to sit back and take in the beautiful views. Air conditioned queen en-suite rooms are also in The Chalet.

The start of the Great Walk Trail is only a short walk from The Chalet. Take the scenic 80 kilometre drive from Mackay through the Pioneer Valley on sealed road to the top of the Clark Range. It is a 5 kilometre drive to view the Platypus at Broken River situated in the Eungella National Park. Built as a guest house for people requiring clear mountain air, The Eungella Chalet has been a landmark in the local area for decades.

Eungella is approximately two and half hour drive from Arlie Beach, the Whitsunday Islands and the Great Barrier Reef. Nestled on the very edge of the Clark Range, the city of Mackay located 80km to the east can be seen beyond the towns dotted along the meandering Pioneer River as it cuts through the flood plains of the Pioneer Valley.

The Chalet is a renowned pit stop for the weary traveler, providing a licensed bar and restaurant along with fantastic Pioneer Valley Views. For those requiring an extended pit stop, various styles of accommodation are available offering standard Hotel & Motel facilities.
