Mackay’s tourism industry showcased in Sydney
Six tourism operators from The Mackay Region will showcase their products and experiences to international and domestic wholesalers and retailers this week, at the annual Australian Tourism Exchange (ATE17) held at the International Convention Centre in Sydney.
The operators include the Sarina Sugar Shed, Megaforce Charters, Rainforest Scuba, Cape Hillsborough Nature Tourist Park, The Feathered Nest Luxury Wildlife Retreat and Potters Oceanside Motel.
Mackay Tourism Ltd (MTL) will also be there to represent the region and meet with wholesalers and retailers. MTL met with media representatives and travel writers on Saturday to entice further promotion of tourism for The Mackay Region.
ATE is Australia’s largest annual travel and tourism business=to-business event. It brings together Australian tourism businesses and tourism wholesalers and retailers from around the world through a combination of scheduled business appointments and networking events.
ATE17 will host approximately 2,500 tourism professionals from Australia and more than 30 international markets. This year, more than 550 Australian tourism businesses are attending ATE17, the highest number in nine years, including 83 Australian tourism products participating for the first time.
The event is hosted by Tourism Australia with state partner Destination NSW and airline partners Virgin Australia and Etihad Airways.
Over 700 buyer delegates representing 548 buyer companies will also attend.
The week-long event runs until 18 May.
