Tourism industry ready to celebrate

 The tourism industry’s ‘night of nights’ is going ahead in 2017 thanks to the generous support of event sponsors.

The 2017 Mackay Region Tourism Awards will be held on Friday, 15 September at Magpies Sporting Club.

The Awards recognise the outstanding achievements of the region’s tourism industry, including individuals, businesses (industry operators) and events. They encourage and promote the growth of tourism products and services.

The Awards cover 14 categories ranging from attractions, events, tour and transport, accommodation, restaurants and more.

Mackay Tourism General Manager Tas Webber said the tourism industry was on a high after a record year of visitor growth and collaboration.

“We’ve seen some excellent success this year across the tourism industry and the Mackay Region Tourism Awards is a chance to celebrate this success, and acknowledge those operators who have put in the hard work to make sure The Mackay Region remains on the map for visitors,” Mr Webber said.

“The support from our eight event sponsors, and our participating members, shows that we have a collaborative and encouraging industry who are dedicated to creating a strong future for tourism.”
